This reminds me heavily of that old game called ReVolt, that too had toy cars.
No Wii U version? This game seems targeted to that so called demographic Wii U players keep being branded as.

Ah, the days when Dire Walter was an insult that meant something...
Micro Machines was a classic, shame they must not have kept the rights to use the name...
I still break out MM on the emulator when got a few mates over, real timeless classic.
I enjoyed v3 and would welcome a new one, there is a serious lack of party games for the PC
I also play V3 a lot whenever an emulator (or actual hardware) is cracked out. 2 to a pad was great fun, do i remember getting 8 people on if you had a multi-tap, or is that just wishful thinking?
V4 was awful, was that even Codemasters? Re-Volt was pretty good too, though I recall it being more isometric than MMs top-down view?
I completely forgot about 4, it was an absolute travesty. Wouldn't mind but it has to be the easiest game ever to develop, just throw as much content in as possible whilst making fun to race on tracks. Tanks on a pool table ? No problem. Muscle on a picnic ? Cool! Hoverships on the moon firing laser beams ? You betcha! (I should make my own ripoff. It'd be awesome)
A few years ago there was a game called Mashed that was somewhat amusing, having races, battle races, objectives, the works. Nothing to call home about but was entertaining.
