My thoughts exactly. Its basically the x factor winner of the gaming world. Totally false and hyped up rehashes of the same stuff every year, with no real substance. Everyone buys into it because its just easy to do what the media and advertising tells you to do.
    I hate people.

wow... what an accurate award...5,000 fans of the book (I'm assuming the guiness book of records) voted, not gamers just people who read guiness book of records.

They haven't even mentioned world of warcraft in the top 10....hell it's not even in the top 20, Diablo isn't mentioned at all. Neither are exactly small gaming franchises.

I'd bet the readers are not that clued up on games and just go with the ones they've seen advertised on tv.

The point is that no numbers are mentioned, very little qualifying statistics!

More than 5,000 fans of the book from 140 countries across the world took to an online poll to vote for their favourite games, and the top 50 record-breaking games were featured in the book’

This is not viable, either in terms of statistics or in terms of news to warrant a "best ever" vote.

Minecraft? TIL that one sample makes a franchise.

"Most people's favourite", maybe. "Best"? Absolutely not. Quality is not always proportional to quantity - this is especially true for the COD franchise.

My votes would have gone to Crysis, Halo, Battlefield and Minecraft.

Re: Call of Duty named best games franchise by 2015 Guinness Book

I wonder who made the initial nominations as to which games would be put forward for the 5,000 judges (is that the right word) to vote from? Could it be that Activision were called upon to suggest some titles at this stage, or is it just me that finds it funny how this news has come out at around the same time that a Call of Duty game has just launched and then been found to be selling way below expectation?

Also 5,000 people from 140 countries! wtf. It's not exactly a representative sample then is it?

In realistic news: COD voted as the most rehashed, cash cow milking game series in history, by gamers over the age of 12. I love that "X factor winner of the gaming world" comment, btw. Spot on! Haha..

Personally would change a few but see why this is the line up they went with.

Call of Duty was a great game, then it went downhill
