Re: Acer to launch QHD 144Hz G-Sync gaming monitor

This'll probably be my next monitor. Think I'll go QHD for a few years before moving to 4K, as the horsepower just isn't there yet for smooth 4K gaming.

Maybe 4 years with QHD (I've had 5 at 1200p, 2 of those with GTX 670s) and a pair of 970s.

Then down the line, when 6GB VRAM is the norm and a pair of x70 cards can comfortably do 60fps minimum, then move to 4K

edit: whooooooaa I just looked at the price of G-SYNC monitors..holy crap! 600+ quid for a 27" panel! Bugger that

lol. Yeah, I had to think twice, correction - several times before I finally bit the bullet, there is not a single monitor on the market that delivers everything I want in one package and the Asus has to be the only thing that comes close but it still has no speakers or sRGB mode and doesn't give a stack of calibration settings options either, if the Acer has them then I may well end up selling my Asus and getting one of those instead.

But you're at least 5 years away of having the graphics cards to be able to do 144fps at 4K

Yeah you pay $150 or $200 or something for the scaler / G-sync technology.

Depends what game you're talking about

Can't wait to see more along these lines - this is exactly what I've been after for ages!

I agree, price is a little steep but they always are when they first come out, super nice though
