I'm interested.
Broke but interested.
I've got one of the last Viera Plasmas from late '13 and it has honestly been the best TV I've had the pleasure of viewing.
I don't really want a curved screen, but those mid-high end 65" 4K sets sound mighty. Maybe next year..
Panasonic's current range has taken a bit of a hammering at times review wise compared to the previous generation.
They (Pansonic) do seem to have eased up on the quality (Same for Sony) and now try to compete with the likes of Samsung rather than be an upmarket brand.
As an owner of a Panasonic TX-P50GT50 it can't honestly be any worse than the Panasonic software. Slow mess with a lot fewer apps than LG/Samsung. Luckily the picture quality redeems it
I don't want a smart TV - there is no such thing although I supposedly have one. I want a TV that gives brilliant picture quality which I have. All these whistles and bells never work as intended and it's just something else that requires support but won't be supported in 5 years time. If I want smart nonsense I'll buy a smart box thingamajig. It's all just marketing crap to get people to part with their cash. Ditto the curved screen gimmick.

Smart TVs collect your daily infomation all the time to help you live conveniently, but you should be careful with your privacy.
I do remember when I bought my current LG TV I saved hundreds by dropping a few models to a non smart model (as its used with a HTPC there really is no need fo 'smart' functions.
It does seem I will have no choice when I come to upgrade, but I know one things I won't be getting is a curved display.
As said display quality vs price is the main thing I look for I am smart enough to not need a smart TV.
I have the 60 series of the same tv (TX-P50GT60B). Agree the software is a bit pants (I never found it slow, but the app selection is poor), but I have a HTPC so don't have to use it.
I had the same problem, picked the set I wanted based on reviews of the display/sound/upscaling etc. Problem being that there was no cheaper "non-smart" equivalent. It's a shame as, aside from screen mirroring maybe once every 3 months and 3D maybe once a month, I don't use any of the smart features.
Getting a non-smart tv is something that will soon be a thing of the past. I actually thought I'd never use the smart functions on mine and then one day I noticed the little play-to button while watching a youtube video on my tablet.......
