Anyone who backed it on Kickstarter or bought it/buys it from Frontier's store qualifies.

I'm always amazed at how much of a cut the middle man can take in these sort of situations. 30% brings that £50 game down to a far more palatable £35, that has to hurt sales. And Steam must be raking it in - kudos to them for making their idea work, and popular - their overheads can't be that high.

It's only £39.99, both in the FD Store and on Steam. £50 is the physical disc version, I believe, from FD.

What I'd like to know is whether playing the game from Steam opens the ED Launcher and whether you can open/play ED without having to launch it from Steam in the first place.

I just bought this on steam the other day just for the convenience of having most of my games there. I feel kinda gutted now. I could've bought it straight from them, given them more money, and then got a free steam key to give to my friend. Dammit!!

Same as using any Ubisoft game with Steam - Having to open a launcher, which then launches another launcher, which then launches the game.

Looks like the Steam key is pre-linked to your account, so would be very charitable of you to give your account away to a friend

As I understand them, they don't interface with the game through steam, but directly with the game exe itself same as your peripherals, therefore shouldn't be any issues.

    1) Yes, accessing the game from Steam opens the ED launcher where you log in before the program runs.
    2) Yes, if you link to the ED launcher executable from within the Steam Common Apps folder, then the game will launch the ED interface without needing Steam to be loaded in the background.
