Great looking game but the release day bugs and failings are still there despite a patch and DLC.

Re: Project Cars 2 announced by developers Slightly Mad Studios

I wanted to love Project Cars, I really did; I even upgraded my PC so that it could play it properly (amongst other new titles), and still, despite a recent patch it doesn't run as well as it really should.

I wish Slightly Mad Studios had spend a bit more time play-testing and ironing out poor performance across a range of PC hardware, even if it had meant a further delay.

Seems that - if nothing else - they're raising money for sequel, when they really should be concentrating on the first game for the next few months to please all the original backers...

Re: Project Cars 2 announced by developers Slightly Mad Studios

I think people need to remember this is how game development works. You release a product and then begin work on the new product - otherwise money will soon dry out and you'll end up with no studio. Just because a few members of staff are beginning to brainstorm and begin planning doesn't mean the current game gets no more support. If you trust them with your kickstarter cash you should also give them a few more months to prove themselves by releasing patches before grabbing the pitchforks...

Re: Project Cars 2 announced by developers Slightly Mad Studios

It's all very well for Studios to work like that, but they have to adapt to the nature of crowdfunding - yes there's a big lag between kickstarting and release, so you need to get in early, but announcing v2 when you've only just released v1 of a title makes the customers feel like they're being taken for a ride.
An alternative that several studios have taken is to work on different series/titles in between so they don't seem to be milking fans...

How can they be announcing the sequel when they cant even fix the first one? Doesnt make any sense.

The trouble with that is that the info available suggests crowd funding for PC2 is only going to be open for a short amount of time. There's still no returns for PC1 yet, so you can't yet judge how trustworthy they are with regards to returns on profits.
The first release didn't go smoothly.
If you invested in the first game you still don't know what your returns are, your 50% discount for the first game had to be used through steam (steam wasn't mentioned when most people invested) that were charging nearly twice as much anyway.
And now the lowest price you can invest is £50, and that gets you a free copy on PC..... Which no doubt will be available outside of steam for £25-£30 anyway.

I won't be funding it. Maybe if they had asked for the money in 6 months time I might have. But way too soon.

And couldn't be used with offer prices if I remember rightly.

Their behaviour is not unusual among game devs, but usually it's filtered by some more customer oriented people.

Haven't even played the first one yet, guess they're just planning for the future. Pro tip: Don't get RaceRoom Racing Experience, complete and utter crap.

Well it's free so at least you can try it, but it's not got anything to do with Project Cars or Slightly Mad Studios.
