Shame one of these won't be going into my HTPC with the rad being so huge?
Nice looking cards.
Why are they saying it needs a 750W PSU? I have an overclocked 980 & an overclocked i5 4670K running perfectly happily off a RM550 PSU...
They say that just to be on the safe side. Also, this card can consume over 300W when you use it for HPC applications.
Not interested in reference designs. When someone provides a custom water block version I might be tempted, although been in green team for a long time
curious though on the various sites seeing price differences between the company.. i mean, other than boxart, company name and warranty length, is there any differences between all these first releases of furyX? Why are some like 50-60quid more than others :S
I'm going to wait for either the aircooled versions, OC-able versions and perhaps the normal Fury :-)
The Fury X?I want the Fury Nano and R9 380X to be announced now
More than what? A GTX 980? Not even remotely - 100W more at the most, probably a fair bit less than that.
Both GPU companies allow for poor quality PSUs that can't provide their rated power consistently. Look at hexus' review and compare the actual PC-wide draw figures; they're about half the recommended supply: 322W for the Fury X (vs 750W recommended) and 245W for the GTX 980 (500W recommended).
Fury X seems to be around the same power consumption as an HD7970GE according to TPU,and between 12W to 40W more than a GTX980TI at most, and seems to be generally below that for the R9 290X.
there is a very good reason AMD only ant the reference design - also ALL FuryX come with ` warranty void if removed` - and the IHV`s mean it.
why? the interposer is NOT flipchip - so the coloured bit on the die between all the ram? that's the interposer - get ANYTHING on it , and you could well wreck the lot and quickly.
Will there be an 8GB edition? most "4k" Testure packs want 8GB's of VRam
