    30% cooler? really?
For an engineering firm they could be a bit more accurate with their claims. That would be sub-zero temperatures.

are you confusing percentages with degrees?

No mention of if the card might have coil whine, and what the returns policy is if it does.

    no.
They are most likely taking a percentage of degrees Celsius, something which doesn't make sense. You can only do that in kelvin.
    e.g 65 celsius, 338 kelvin. 30% cooler would be ~237 K, which is ~-36C

An actual engineer would not talk about a cooler's performance with absolute values. Engineers talk about deltas. So the temperature delta of the ASUS DCuIII cooler is at least 30% smaller then the temperature delta of the reference cooler.

So if the reference cooler has a delta of 50, then the ASUS DCuIII cooler should have a delta of 35. This means that when the GPU on the reference card is at 82 degrees C, the GPU on the ASUS DCuIII card will be at 67 degrees C.

Wouldn't it just be 70% of the stock card's temp ? Y'all adding mucho confuso to it

It'll probably be whichever reflects the lowest actual temperature difference.

Re: ASUS Strix GTX 980 Ti with DirectCU III cooling released

It's a press release which comes from a marketing department, so has little to do with science or engineering. It's more likely that the writers coffee was 30 % cooler when he'd finished his 'tests' than after his 'testing' with whatever card he had lying around that counted as his 'reference'.

Always bought Asus but no more, the customer supports dropped off the planet. God help you if you use UK support as it is a reply every other day ending with "we will inform the development team"

Capitalization is the difference between helping your Uncle Jack
off a horse and helping your uncle jack off a horse.

Re: ASUS Strix GTX 980 Ti with DirectCU III cooling released

I bought an ASRock motherboard that has the problem where it goes completely unresponsive with an overheating VRM - ASRock confirmed the problem and have been immensely helpful and responsive but the UK supplier (ebuyer) won't replace it talking about testing, repairs, and up to 5 weeks to get it resolved because the board is over a month old. They have no regard for fitness for purpose, ASRock advice, or the Sales of Goods Act. If hadn't of been for ASRock I would have been steaming mad, I will buy ASRock in the future but I would have extreme difficulty in ever recommending ebuyer with the possibility of actively discouraging anyone from buying from them.
