Unsurprising given the form factor seems completely suited to Skylake. The current Surface Pro 3 is running on such an old CPU (Haswell) that the thermal throttling pretty much ruins it. Finally the machine that it should have been at launch is almost here!

I almost bought the Surface 3 the other day, but glad I waited.
Really looking forward to the Pro 4 now!

Re: Microsoft Surface Pro 4 with Intel Skylake CPU to arrive in October

I swear people are just deliberately trying to toy with my emotions now. I've wanted a surface pro for years now but was never in a position to afford it. Now that I finally am, I started looking into whether to go i5 8gb or i7. First thing I found wear rumours of when the Surface pro 4 was coming. I've since, been sat here patiently for the end of July and then this week we get 2 different rumours of late next year for NVMe and now October. I wish Microsoft would just confirm or deny some of these rumours. Eager to be able to just get away from the computer desk and do things anywhere.

Since I know Satya reads Hexus on the toilet each morning, I really hope they launch a full A4 model with a fan, a 16GB option and a faster CPU and keep the normal 12" model fanless. And Satya, before you wipe, find a way to make the SSD upgradable, even if it's just for the A4 model.

I don't care if this is a 0.005% increase over the pro 3, I've been waiting since gen 1 and I've had enough waiting!

Re: Microsoft Surface Pro 4 with Intel Skylake CPU to arrive in October

Bought a Surface Pro 2 early last year (way before the SP3 came out), with keyboard for £670. No way I'd get close to that when the SP4 comes out. Fortunately the SP3 has the same guts as the SP2 but with a much nicer screen. And I NEED an SP4, now it has the SP3 screen and up to date guts. The cost!!

The Surface is really nice, just wish it wasn't so expensive. Ever since the Asus UX305 came out, I find it a bit hard to justify.

Nevertheless, looking forward to the new model, it's always nice to have options.
