Was semi-interested. Then I saw Android. Nevermind.
Im confused as to how Acer expects this to compete with Nvida's shield. Hoping perhaps to capitalize on its recent recall maybe? With GRID still being free and the streaming capabilities from GeForce PC's i don't see much of a market fo this.
ohhhh ANDROID?? what a mistake.
Ridiculous name, ridiculous looking device.
Alien(ware) .v. Predator showdown?
Gaming tablet... ahahahaha
Nice to see that the PC gaming bigots are out in force today...
Acer's always been the "budget" offering so - given the price that similar DroidTel tablets sell for - it's entirely doable for the P8 to undercut the Shield by a decent amount. Heck, I bought a BayTrail 8" Lenovo and got a case as well with change from £150.
Don't forget that not everyone is that interested in GRID, or even has the required fancy network and Geforce dGPU to be able to use it.
Price and battery life are pretty much the keys here. Although I've no doubt that given it's Acer that it'll be very fragile and not that reliable. Still, might be a good way to play some of the current Android action games for less money than NVidia want.
gaming device? so where are the buttons then?
Because the most basic Surface Pro 3 is £640, and an NVidia Shield is less than half that price?
Also that "bigger better screen" also makes it a less easy to port around and use in a commuter "cattle car" train carriage. Remember that the Predator is being posited as a gaming device a la iPad Mini, not some cut price desktop replacement. Although I can't see any reason why you couldn't slap on the Office apps for Android, get a cheap-jack Bluetooth keyboard and do some light Excelling, etc on it too.
Acer trying to explore the path of Nvidia SHIELD tablet. Changes & Explorations are always good in technology :-)
