Perhaps this could be overcome by use of a "Queen Bee" - i.e. a large quadcopter that would hover nearby and wireless process information using an onboard CPU and then issue the commands to the swarm? The "Queen Bee" could also carry a large capacity battery and provide some kind of wireless charging pad for the swarm to return and recharge their batteries before heading back out?
