Now I'm looking forward to Skylake-Ex chips. The ability to be able to overclock Xeon's again. Although I suspect we won't be seeing them for another 18-24 months yet.
So, we can finally do something with Intel processors that we were able to do anyway until about 5 years ago, and we've been able to do with AMD chips throughout, and all of a sudden it's a big deal that requires garish advertising and infographics!?

*shrug* Overclocking AMD's APUs has always been trickier than overclocking their CPUs, and that's part of the reason Intel stopped BCLK overclocking on their IGP chips (or so they claimed, anyway). My complaint isn't so much with Intel (although I suspect they could have done a lot more to enable overclocking on the last 3 or 4 generations) as the garish advertising the mobo manufacturers are throwing at this amazing "new" ability of skylake chips.
it does feel an awful lot like we're meant to be grateful for being given something by Intel that we've been able to get for decades from other providers, and even from Intel's older chips (I suspect a 4Ghz Core 2 Quad is still a very capable chip for most purposes, for instance). I'm not an idiot. I can see through that hype...
Gutted just purchased an i5 4460 setup thought not worth the extra cost for newer DDR 4 platform. This would have completely changed my decision! On the plus side a big kick in the nackers for AMD I3 skylake @ 4.5ghz+ is a beast! Low cost and relative low power. Intel Skylake over clocking will damage AMDs bottom line lets hope Zen can keep them in business :-\ ex AMD fanboy
