I didn't even know they were rebooting it.

    Let's hope it's better than Doom 3.

Looks like they've sped it up a bit and added a bit more colour, which is good.
These cinematic melee take downs look a bit worrying. Sure, brutal as hell but you'd get bored very quickly.
Gun sounds still a bit weak, which was a major issue with Doom 3.

Well, at least it looks like it's not going to be ruined by being too dark so you can't even see monsters rushing you like Doom 3.

The beta should be coming soon then. I've got to get through Wolfenstein by then.

Re: DOOM to arrive on Friday 13th May, you can pre-order now

Hopefully they'll have improved on game play since the last time rather than just making it look shiny. Doom 3 didn't improve much on the original with mechanics like "walk along corridor to arbitrary trigger point, hidden door in wall opens somewhere behind you and enemies jump out of broom cupboard".

Wait...Doom 3 had monsters....I thought the slightly darker shades of darkness just did damage!

Re: DOOM to arrive on Friday 13th May, you can pre-order now

The big question for me is will this have native support for the Oculus Rift or not? If it does, i'll order on the PC. If it doesn't then I may as well get it for the XBO. I know it was planned to be included, but i've found anything confirming support exists yet.

I personally really enjoyed Doom 3 and would not be at all upset if it was in any way similar, but also wouldn't be upset if it was a more classic Doom experience either The worst thing they could possibly do is try and reinvent Doom like they did with Quake 4...Doom *should* be a simplistic game with daft secrets , silly monsters/weapons, heavy scripting etc..trying to modernise that formula would be a very bad idea imo.

I am the other way round, I really enjoyed Quake 4, while Doom 3 was something I finished only because I started and made some progress in it. I tried to give the expansion pack a go, but quickly gave up.

I preordered a copy of the standard edition from Amazon. The collector's edition is just too much money.

Not going to lie I think it looks... Really boring.
The whole speed aspect is completely lost by the stomping and bashing. If I wanted to punch things in the face I'd play a WWE game.
