It was nothing like Doom - at all. All felt a bit "floaty" to me. Shocked it's supposed to be out in a month.
It felt more like Quake 3 Team Arena with a few Doom additions, but maybe because the beta was team-based multiplayer as opposed to 1v1 or FreeForAll matches. I like the ability to climb quickly into higher levels which feels new to me at least and I imagine it will give good "cat and mouse" scenarios in 1v1.
I'm going to wait until a day or two before release if I'm going to pre-order to see the reviews for single player and multiplayer. Apparently you get demon armour for multiplayer if you preorder, but I'm not sure if you can just buy it after release on not.
I didn't have chance to play the game for that long. It seemed like Doom just with everything offered on a plate.
If it's not got 8bit graphics, it's not Doom.
I tried the last reboot of Doom and it got boring very quickly.
Not played myself but friend and family who played says it's pants.
I must admit, I expected more I even un-installed the game before the beta ended.
I thought the graphics were adequate as I didn't want it too flashy. Yes, I have a powerful computer but it needed to be fast paced. However, It wasn't.
First thing I tried to do was bunny hop to speed up and move quicker.... Fail! The ability to move about like in Q2 or Q3 (yes, I know this isn't quake but IMO Doom and Doom2's successor was quake) is severely crippled. Part of what made these fun was finally getting that trick jump just right!
Second thing I tried was find weapon spawns.... Fail. Rather than being able to collect weapons and swap depending on current situation/health status or part of the map that promotes a certain type of weapon you're stuck with 2. This for me is a big no no. Anyone who played the originals will really turn their nose up at this.
These 2 things are what defined the franchise and made people still play them today. Everything else I can forgive but without these 2..... I won't be buying it!
I found the look of the game very washed out and the gameplay pretty bog standard, having tried all 3 betas it didnt give me any reason not go with Overwatch next month rather than this or Battleborn.

I played the multiplayer a few weeks ago on the Game open beta early access.
It was ok, but definitely not great.
Visually, seen it all before.
Game play, nothing much different than in Quake Arena, in fact Quake Arena was a lot more fun.
The only reason I pre-ordered Doom is for the single player campaign.
But why is it sill mostly stuck in the corridors of a futuristic base?
Wouldn’t it be great having a version of Doom that’s open world like Fallout 4 or Skyrim? And have the multiplayer open world like Skyrim online? Coming across temples with puzzles to solve, and vast treacherous wastelands..
I played the original Doom when it was released and the later console releases, and loved it, but the best Doom for me so far has been Doom 2 on the PC. Open environments, not all stuck in corridors, and lots of Key puzzles to solve, not just all out carnage .
The single player game play videos do look impressive, and have some open environments in hell, but its still not quite Doom…. :-((
It just feels sooo slow.
Preemptive message to Outwar6010:
Told you so.
Played it on Xbox one instead of usual PC. Fair to say it reminded me of Quake 3 or Unreal Tournament, but for 2016 it needs to be alot more than what it currently is. Not worth £40
