interesting... this piece has been up for 2 hrs and no comments... does this mean ppl aren't that interested in Doom, or not very hopeful?

Vorlon99, from everything I've read it seems people aren't exactly overly impressed with the new version. Those specs seem to require a pretty meaty system and internet connection too.

It's surprising the Geforce 660 isn't the lowest spec card supported. You could probably get away with a 660 regardless.

Open beta ran ok on my machine (7870 xt, fx6300@4.3), no idea on FPS though as I wasn't monitoring, and no idea on settings - they were locked out in the beta. I wonder if they're targeting 60fps as a minimum, in which case it'll be playable below "minimum" spec?

Surely bare minimum specs would run on an APU? If COD Ghosts runs at mid-high on my 7870kk I don't see why this wont run on minimum...

    Opinions?

Looking at the above link, you might be ok on the lowest settings but I'm thinking you won't be getting above 30fps and I'm guessing you'll be playing in the 20-25 fps range. I could be wrong, I guess we will know within a week or two.

If you're in a position to buy a graphics card, it might worth holding off for a mid-range AMD Polaris or Nvidia Pascal card (after June most likely), that will certainly solve any problems with running Doom.

Re: DOOM PC system requirements, new launch trailer published

Its a shame that this is looking likely to be a bit underwhelming, and it definitely appears that a lot of people, including me, were looking forward to a modern-retro return to the good old days of Doom/DoomII, but are now feeling more than a little concerned and a lot less hopeful. Can't put my finger on why it doesn't quite feel right.
I can seriously see this underperforming in sales numbers and hitting the discount offers in not too many months... definitely Steam sales in the Autumn and Xmas!
Still, I've got my fingers well and truly crossed that the first proper reviews out the gates give us a proper insight to the final game, and that it is better than we are all currently imagining.

I can't believe you still have to download another 45gb to play the game after getting the disc version. It makes no sense whatsoever, especially when Bethesda have a whole MMORPG that is not much different in size. The textures must be completely uncompressed or something. It really annoyes me since a) even though alot of broadband package are 'unlimited', alot still have hidden limits and throttling that would be affected by this, b) it would take ages for anyone on a normal broadband connection speed to download, and c) it's taking up a completely un-necessary amount of hard drive space for what will most like be a 10-15 hour game.

Yeah, it's one of those where you start the download and go to bed lol

Its not too bad for me, I've got Sky Fibre, but the use of 45gb of Disk space... mad... I wonder if some of that replaces some of the files on the Disk... ie, the Disk was pressed with a version of the game that is bugged and the DL is actually a sneaky Patch/Fix?

I just pre-ordered Doom plus season pass. First time ever I've pre-ordered a game! Fingers crossed it'll grab me.

Re: DOOM PC system requirements, new launch trailer published

I've not pre-ordered anything... as far as I can remember, although I do have a couple of early access on Steam

I really hope this turns out to be a great game, at least for the single player campaign, I really do.... not bothered about MP, I've got plenty others to play for that

Yea I'm actually looking forward to it! I'm cautiously optimistic for the single player, id/Bethesda can always tweak the multiplayer over time, so I'm not too fussed about that if it's a bit average on release.

Although it didn't get amazing reviews I really enjoyed playing Rage; if the Doom single player is on a par with that experience I'll definately get a copy. Thought the enemy AI and movement was creative, and it was not as simple as pointing your gun level down a corridor, as the enemies were climbing and hanging from walls and ceilings etc.
