That's pretty attractive, it would be a seller for me with 2ms response time and 1440p and I expect they will be getting one of these in the pipeline in the not too distant future. I believe 24" is the limit for 1080p as I've yet to see a screen at an attractive price that is nice to look at at greater than 24" at 1080p

Where did they find a 6-bit IPS panel!

This is a nice fit to something like a RX470 or 380(X) (or possibly even 460) where very high settings do occasionally dip under 60fps. This would give smooth, tear-free gaming on a big(ish) screen for a semi-reasonable price.

Freesync + affordable monitors is really a killer feature for AMD hardware, but they aren't exploiting it as they should be. For example, one of the more affordable curved 3440x1440 "super-wides" is the Acer, and it comes with Freesync. The Gsync version is (more or less) twice the price. Now, I'm not saying these screens are for everyone, but the point is that a big screen plus Freesync is massively more affordable, and freesync will help when framerates aren't high enough.

And yet, I don't think I've seen a single RX480/470 review do a proper mention of Freesync (ie. a paragraph, or even a test). It's just a bulletpoint at best.

Note, I say this as a mostly-Nvidia user for gaming graphics, but AMD deserve big credit for features like this.

    I stopped reading at 1080p.

The poor pixel density on 27" 1080 panels is quite off-putting, in my experience.

Most budget IPS panels are 6-bit. Dell have been selling them for years - my U2311H from 2010 is also 6-bit.

    I disagree 1440p but 144hz and 2ms would be a winner
I have 27" IPS 1080p NoN freesycn and love at 1080p I 32" and above are better suited for 1440p other then you make ever way to small on desktop

Not a fan of cheap IPS... or "cheap" displays with "premium" features that turn out to be terribly implemented. Doesn't seem like a good deal to me.

Re: Dell releases a 27-inch IPS monitor with FreeSync for $249

At 27" this should have a higher resolution than 1920x1080.

*Most* IPS panels are 6 bit + 2 bit (A)FRC. Only very few (especially elder models) are true 8 bit (I'm using one). The "1 billion" (aka 10 bit) colour models are usually 8 bit + 2 bit (A)FRC.

Only true 8 bit panels provide 16.7 million colours, btw. The "6 bit" ones can only provide 16.2 million colours.

Personally, I bemoan the apparent death of the 16:10 aspect ratio, but that's an entirely different story.

Will wait for a review, but I'm thinking this might be great screen for my system in the bedroom. A 27" 1080 IPS with freeSync would be a decent upgrade to what I'm currently using.

How good is Intel's FreeSync support nowadays?

Would be a better idea to get a better monitor. With cash saved get a better gpu, which will maintain 60fps = no dips/ tearing and a better monitor to boot

Hm? 8 bit = 24-bits for all three colours. 2^24 is 16.7millionish (16,777,216). 6 bit colour would be 18 bits which is 262,144 colours. Unless there is some other trickery going on.

I don't really need one as I'm sat up in bed watching films most of the time. FreeSync helps a lot with motion blur and the IGP has more of a chance running 1920x1080 when gaming.

A 25" 2560x1440 Dell screen with FreeSync would be nice though.
