If it does 4k blu-ray, I might be interested in making the leap from PS3*
* If I can justify it with the wife. So no then.

So, there's going to be a PS4 neo and a PS4 slim. Feels pointless to have the original PS4 now.
Disappointed the optical-out port has been removed - I still rely on it for 5.1 on my Marantz DTS Amp (doesn't have HDMI pass-through).

Original PS4 stock will be sold through by Xmas most likely. I prefer the look of the original to this one but the slim no doubt will be a lot quieter/cooler than the original. I'm staying with my PS4 until PS5/Xbox(post project scorpio) comes out, at which point 4K and VR should be well established/mainstream.
To be honest, if new consoles are going to pop up after three years, I might just go back to PC gaming and just have a cheap slim console when they emerge for the exclusives I'm interested in.
My PS3 may be on its way out, so waiting for the next version of PS before I upgrade.
Not getting the slim version when its just repackaged current tech.
But, its never gonna replace my PC for gaming.
Its just a media machine at the end of the day.
If they did backwards compatibility, I would have upgraded sooner, but I still have many, many PS3 games I haven't finished yet, and there aren't any exclusive titles that make me want to throw my money at Sony, like the original Gran Turismo did on the PS1
If they put one of those in the Neo..Sony can take my money. I skipped the PS4 and went Xbox One primarily for Halo, entertainment and backwards compatibility features..but I have missed out on a number of Sony exclusives as a result. I did this last generation too and eventually picked up a PS3 specifically for it's Blu-Ray support, so the same pattern again would be an interesting repeat of history
