"All the GTX 1070 cards that have been through the HEXUS labs have been equipped with Samsung GDDR5"

..and you can bet that is no accident.

Get the best possible reviews using the best posiible memory chips then fob the consumer off with cheaper lower quality chips.

Damn, I was thinking of getting a 1070 in the new year to replace my 970. It seems to be becoming a trend for the * 70 cards to be gimped in some dodgy way.

My MSI GTX1070 Armor (bought from Scan Computers) with Samsung Memory...

This card is a very early card though, one of few with a 3rd party cooler... Possibly later cards come with Micron Memory? Guess i'm one of the lucky ones.

Then you got lucky and was sent a card made in the first batch, buy one today and your chances of getting Samsung memory are slim.

Well if people keep buying gimped cards by the bucket full (like the 970) then they will keep making gimped cards.

Re: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 BIOS updates to fix memory issues

Strange thing is... I have an EVGA 1070 FTW with Micron memory and that OC's just fine. Currently running with +400 (+500 appears OK as well, but backed it off a bit, as I'm not greedy)in Afterburner. So That's 2,200Mhz (obviously quad channel memory here).

So looks like it's not even "all" Micron memory.

In my case, I'm not going to bother with the BIOS update. If only on the principal of "if it aint broke, don't try and fix it".
    Live long and prosper.
