So 4 14nm generations and 10nm Cannonlake out at the same time as Coffe lake, That with Skylake and Kaby X out at the same time I have to wonder what Intel are up to?

That said I understand Cannonlake will be out only on low power mobile whilst Coffe lake will be desktop, still going to confuse the hell out of people.

Probably maximising their fab investments and not racing to upgrade them all asap.

CPU development seems to have slowed down across the board, I guess this is to be expected.

So mid-2018, a great time to pick up a 2nd hand desktop skylake i7 for around £150-180 with about ~10% performance loss over this new generation. Thanks Intel!

It'll be interesting to see if AMD can get Zen 8C/16T designs in a 45W SKU for mobile (for use with discrete graphics), or if they are planning a 6C Zen APU SKU.

I would imagine for Laptops they would mainly do APU's, it would be interesting though if they do a more powerful design with a descrete card that can work in crossfire with the integrated one.

It's Intel, I'm always surprised when a new CPU works on a previous series' board.

To be fair, with intel's pedestrian pace of advancements there's been little reason to upgrade any intel CPU from the past few years
