That thing is gonna throttle like a mofo, even current GTX 1070 and 1080 laptops throttle pretty considerably.

Too much (and dated looking) bezel.

I agree that the huge space between the keyboard and the screen is a bit odd. No touchpad either? That's odd.

I think the touchpad is put together with the numpad. Doesn't look like any buttons are there, just a faint print of a numpad...
That space between the keyboard and screen is very odd as well.

There is a touchpad, and a numpad. For those who can't read the article:
The picture also shows a very interesting keyboard / numpad layout where a numpad grid can be toggled to function within the touch-pad area to the right.

Re: Asus ROG readying a GTX 1080 laptop that’s less than 17mm thick

Wow that is a supremely ugly laptop O.o

Out of interest, who buys this kind of thing? Of the reasonably techy minded people i know who might be interested in a high performance laptop, none value thinness as a major consideration, doubly so if it impacts cooling (therefore making it loud and prone to throttling) to achieve that...

That space between the keyboard and screen reminds me an Apple Mac designs - ugly.

Ah, you got me about the number pad doubling as the touchpad. That in itself is weird, but at least there is one.

17mm thick, but you could land a helicopter on it.

Re: Asus ROG readying a GTX 1080 laptop that’s less than 17mm thick

Fair play to them for pulling off viable 1080 cooling in such a thin chassis, but honestly, I'd much rather a system that wont rupture my eardrums under load.
