I predict this will become the best selling triple monitor laptop in the world, when it (never) comes out.

Looks sweet and G-sync <3, but what about the heat? I'd Imagine it would get hot really fast.

Uhm... haven't they thought about distance from the monitors?

when on laptop you are closer on the monnitor then when having a PC setup, would be difficult to actually benefit at all from the laptop as well.

I hope Razer is joking I really do lol.. but again they are branded as high quality products when they really are low quality, the good old days was good though.

That does look insane... but can you imagine some kid running past you say in the airport? library? café? LAN Hall? And clipping that beast, I'd be gutted and end up punting the wee nut.

With "snazzy automatic deployment mechanism" if they were to snap perhaps getting clipped? That will be a hefty bill I think?

Re: Razer unveils Project Valerie, a triple G-Sync display laptop

Guys, guys - "concept" laptop. Also known as "we've only done this to show off the fact that we can".

As a concept design I actually like this one, as long as the additional screen deployment is optional/triggerable. From the video the central display is on the innermost face of the clamshell like a standard laptop, so you could use it like a normal laptop in confined spaces, then when you get to your desk space you pull out an external keyboard/mouse and unleash the triple screens

Presumably however they've done the screens could be adapted into a desktop monitor for gaming (maybe via an integrated DP MST hub?) - be great for LAN parties: turn up with one 21" screen then watch everyone's jaws drop as two more screens fold out from the sides!

And one last observation - I remember when every laptop was 1.5" thick! Getting a full system and three screens into that chassis - I'm impressed

Re: Razer unveils Project Valerie, a triple G-Sync display laptop

Great concept and it's visual design is beautiful, but in reality a 1080 isn't going to power 3x 4k monitors when gaming at all! I imagine the battery would run out before you have even had enough time to fry an egg on the top of it too!

Nice panels though with them being full adobe rgb, more enticing for professionals than for gamers. Like mentioned, powering any gaming at that resolution would be hard af.

Any truth to the news reported that two of the projects they brought to CES got stolen ?

Not sure about using it as a 12k widescreen, but as a triple monitor setup for additional workspace/organisation, I would say it is pretty sweet. For those who move periodically, it is still far more transportable than carrying two or three separate flat panel!

Re: Razer unveils Project Valerie, a triple G-Sync display laptop

If these laptops are getting as big as a mini-ITX system with all their bulk you might as well get a small desktop TBH!! Can you easily upgrade the internal graphics card?? I doubt it and even if you can use an external box it makes the whole shebang larger.

Laptops like the XPS13 and Razer Blade at least make more sense as they are actually compact.

1.5" thick is still only half the thickness of the slimmest mini-itx cases, and most of those won't take a dGPU at all, let alone a GTX 1080. And then you'd have to cart the three screens around with you!

In fact, a dual slot GPU is wider than 1.5". This may be big for a modern laptop, but it's nowhere near bulky...
