I never get the top end anyway as diminishing returns at the top end are ridiculous so not fussed if they don't take the top end crown.
Which ever offer the best value at the price I am willing to pay get my money which usually ends up being AMD.

It's a 34" monitor. Interesting, that would bring the price down to about £500 as I already get 10-30% off Samsung products.$200 off a 37in Samsung CF791 FreeSync-enabled monitor
The value does not look too bad,the issue is the Fury X is quite close to the GTX1070 already and luckily for Vega 64 the former is limited by 4GB of VRAM.
If Vega 64 can't match the aftermarket GTX1080 cards,this will be a worse failure than the 2900XT,which was less delayed and at least could compete with the second fastest Nvidia card of the day,the 8800GTS 640MB(technically you could argue third but the 8800 Ultra was a pre-overclocked 8800 GTX.
If it can barely match a GTX1080 FE,its beaten by the aftermarket 1080 cards,the GTX1080TI FE,aftermarket GTX1080TI cards,Titan X(Pascal) and the Titan Xp(Pascal),launching over a year later than the GTX1080 and a year later than the Titan X(Pascal).
With the increases in clockspeed over Fury,something must have gone really wrong - I can only think maybe they were expecting HBM2 clockspeeds to be considerably higher.
They could have simply shrinked an R9 Fury X, saved a lot of die space, upped the clock speed and got more performance at lower power.
Whilst this is a huge but not unsurprising disappointment, I suspect we'll see some large increases over the next year. Not good for AMD though. It means that their much larger die Vega with super expensive interposer+HBM2 cant be sold for lots of money.

I think its a consequence of their top GPUs trying to do shoehorn gaming and professional workloads(things like AI) into a one size fits all GPU.
The only problem is Nvidia has now made sure they have separate lines,for both,meaning their gaming cards are powered by leaner chips.

What would be amusing with all of our expectations (including my own) being that it's massively deflating if it is targeted for a 1080 and only just beats it but then when it gets into peoples hands it beats a Titan Xp

Wow, big surprise it's rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbish. But cheap. At that price you can just wait for a 1080 custom cooled card to be on sale and buy that. I actually expect it to be more expensive than the 1080 at launch.
Even at direct conversion the prices are approximately £305 / £380 / £460, before price gauging and VAT.
Let's assume it'll be around £320, £400 and £490 before VAT (I'm being optimistic), UK prices might be around £385, ££480 and £590 inc. VAT ....so probably £399, £499 and £599 RRP
If that's true they're overpriced unfortunately, based on expected performance and power consumption.
