Different day same story for Intel. This should play quite well into AMD's hands if it turns out to be true.

That's the problem with today's big companies, they are all driven my accountant's and marketing. Innovation dies and the user suffers.

Nice. I love it when people are just honest from the start.

    I had to smile

We expect to see Intel launch a variety of 300 series chipsets this year to support Coffee Lake processors in the mainstream desktop segment. Leading the charge will be Z370 motherboards like the Z370 Aorus Ultra Gaming, launching on 5th October.
I'd hardly call the z370 Aorus ultimate gaming a mainstream desktop motherboard. It is firmly aimed at the niche gaming market.

But that then raises the question of whether this range of Intel processors is aimed at the mainstream desktop market where the main applications will be mainstream office applications.

What is it with Intel and throwing moronic arbitrary limitations into their products? Like even now while Ryzen is eating their lunch, they're still at it. Incredible.

i-SHEEP chronicles! (Years of socket changes and crazy prices) All this is happening while AMD is readying ZEN 2. Next year top brands like Apple, Dell, Acer, HP and Lenovo will have products with tons of AMD hardware: More cores-Low price. Intel thought consumers will be stuck with 4 core 4 thread CPUs for decades so AMD has pushed them to the wall.

I suspect that's what B360 H360 and H310 will be for. Z370 is targeted at the high end market along with the unlocked i3 i5 and i7. Where as the locked i3's i5's and i7's will be for the more mainstream and businesses

Are you not tempted by existing Ryzen? Guess you also concerned about the lack of high end SFF motherboards?

There are some reasonable mini-ITX motherboards out now,but I only really play Fallout 4 and Overwatch currently, and Ryzen performs "poorly" in Fallout 4,ie,is probably not that much better than what I have now,and that is a massive deal breaker for me.

The 6C/12T Core i7 is overpriced, plus I have serious doubts on the longevity of the Z370 motherboards too,as I only upgrade every few years. The 6C Core i5 looks OKish but it most likely will lose out against the Ryzen 5 1600 in situations where all threads are used,ie,like video encoding.
