All sounds good. A couple of things, that X850XTPE is very cheap, sure that isn't a typo? Also, is that your max budget? If you could go slightly higher on that RAM (say another £40) you could get much better overclocking stuff.

    Good router btw/

Strange choice of shops...OCUK have awful Cust. Services, and are pretty expensive. I don't know about Savastore, but they don't seem particularly cheap either...I'd happily recommend Scan, Ebuyer and Overclock as alternatives, I've just completed a very similar rig to yours using them, and all of those shops have been first rate

Savastore is very good, and sometimes it has some ridiculous deals.

Very nice setup indeed, agree with comments on ram though, Komplett are actually doing a gig of Corsair XMS 3200C2 for £99. If its the right revision it could be TCCD chips which would work well with your board. Or alternatively go even cheaper & get a gig of the new TwinMos PC3500 BH5 for £96, cos with that board you can put the volts it needs (3.4-3.6v) through it to run a fairly high fsb (250+) with tight timings.

It's nice but not the most cost effective. You could do better for less. No need for an X850 XT PE with that CPU unless you are a hardcore bencher, in which case that CPU is not so good. You need to decide what your priorities are before you choose the components.

Looks like it will endup being a great system. I'm just glad I don't have to pay those kinds of prices. That computer is almost exactly three times as expensive as mine.

Imo if you can get that XTPE that cheap then get it, a vanilla 6800 is a good card but the pcie ones can't be softmodded and therefore the performance difference between that & a 6600gt is not enough for the money.

A 6600GT wont, imo, do it justice, anyways you can always upgrade the cpu later. Hell my 6800 nu which is softmoded struggles at some points in Doom3 & Half life 2 with all the eye candy on.

get a 3200+, it will clock almost as well as a 3500+ and you won't lose out on performance and the money can be saved or spend elsewhere.

You need to match the components. It does no good to put a $600.00 videocard on a $200.00 CPU, but it's sometimes good to put a $200.00 videocard on a $600.00 CPU depending on how you use your computer.

Additionally, as johnnr892 states there is little difference in performance between a 3200+ and a 3500+ (and even a 3000+) Winchester, depending on whether or not you're overclocking and how good your other components are.

What are your priorities? List them 1),2),3),etc... In other words, what will you do with your computer? Also, how often do you upgrade (how long must your computer last)?

dunno for definate mate, but i'm pretty sure all 6800's have one dvi at least.

just to let you know ive been really happy with my 6800, runs everything nicely at 1280x1024 with at least high settings and some filtering effects thats without the softmod too

    edit:

from dell US re 6800: This graphics card supports one DVI (digital) and one VGA (analog) monitor connection.

Why not get a X800XL PCI-e and a 3200/3500 Venice when they come out

Recent winchesters have got weak mem controllers on them and not been doing as well as the older winchesters (my first 3500+ won't run at stock at all without 1.7v! or current 3200+ won't run stock at 1T only 2T)
