If you've already got a decent S939 motherboard on your hands it would be almost criminal not to try an Athlon 64 3000+ E3-stepping CPU. Sure, it's not hugely fast at default speeds, but I'd be amazed if 2.5GHz wasn't a given and 3GHz on the cards with better cooling. There's just something rather naughty but nice about 50% overclocks with near-default voltage. For once, you can have your cake and eat it! Yum.

only a Winchester that does 285+ in my Shuttle which I thought was more than adequate, but these low voltage Venices are proving hard to ignore

the review says it is a standard amd cooler which it isn't (amd don't do heatpipe coolers except fx series). So on top of £110 ppl, add another £20 for cooling!
Tarinder says what cooling he uses.I also opted to use a reference AMD Athlon 64 FX-5x heatpipe-driven cooler. The idea of this test is to see how high the sample would clock to without the use of esoteric cooling.

I did wonder how an Arctic 64 Freezer would compare to the cooling used in the test. Any idea how it'd compare?

Still got a lot more to do (new BIOS to get used to).
1 thing I noticed is that Tarinder says he got his high overclock at 1.54V but CPU-Z screenie shows 1.4V. On mine it's at 1.4V in BIOS but CPU-Z shows 1.44V
Everyone getting that kind of speed?
