    Disabling the BIOS splash screen

    Hi,

I now have a ECS RS480-M, and although I've been told
I can use TAB to switch from the splash screen to the POST screen,
I'd like to know if there's an option in the BIOS to disable the splash screen
so I get the POST screen all the time.

Alternatively, can I change the BIOS splash screen with my own images ?

    Thanks !
    Francois

    Hello,

Under the 'Advanced BIOS feature' section in the BIOS select 'Small Logo (EPA) Show' as disabled, which enables or disables the display of the EPA logo during boot.

Hope this is what you are looking for.

    Regards

I have a feeling this is not what I need. I'll try it anyways tonight.
What i'm trying to disable is the BIOS splash screen containing the ECS name, a big snake head and the ATI logo. I want to see the POST screen right away instead. On some other motherboards, they label this option "quiet boot".

    Hi,

Yes I'm afraid your probably right and I was way off with the EPA logo. I've been told that if the option is there it will be something like 'Disable Splash Screen' but on most of our newer boards this option has been missing and I have been unable to find it in the manual.

To change the image you could try googling to find an answer (might be worth looking here ) however this is not something we support and I am unsure as to whether this is possible.

Sorry I could not be of further help

    Thanks

Thank you Jon, Well I find this is very helpful, no kidding.
I won't be spending more time looking for a BIOS option as you confirmed
it's likely not there since I didn't find it.
And I'm no fan of trying unsupported BIOS updates; i'll wait for a ECS supported BIOS.
I'll send an email to ECS support requesting a BIOS feature instead.
It is just a nice-to-have BIOS feature. I'll update this thread if there's ever a new BIOS update that shows up to support it.

    Cheers,
    Francois

    Hi,

I will push the matter with our headquaters also and hopefully they will include the feature in the next release. I look forward to hearing back from you if they do.

    Cheers

If you backup your current BIOS first, there's no-one complaining that this doesn't work....

I saw that, but seeing that it's based off the 1.0a BIOS, I figured I not only would
take a risk on the BIOS but also forego 1.0b-1.0g bug fixes as well...

Hi Guys, I have just recieved reply that this request has been flagged to the BIOS writers so hopefully the next BIOS update will give the option to show/hide the BIOS splash screen

Ok, I have just been passed the BIOS's for the RS480-M and RS482-M with the splash screen completely removed. There is no option in the BIOS to enable again, although when released this should be added.

I have provided links below, please note that these are not release BIOSs and therefore you use them at your own risk.

    RS482-M

I would appreciate any feedback from your experiences with these should you choose to use them

    Thanks

I choose to shed the snakeskin - I'll let you know ASAP.

Cheers Jon (and the ECS BIOS team)

It's great - no splash screen - but no temperature fixes either!

If you could modify the s482ma19.bin file to remove the splash I would be happy.

Thanks for your efforts - and a BIOS toggle for the splash would cater for all tastes.

    Regards

    Steve

RS480-M new BIOS version 1.1a showed up. Release Date 2005/10/22.
No mentions of splash screen disable option.
I might try it out; if any of you try it, let me know...

Sorry for the lack of a quick response - my HDD has just died on me.

The MA24 BIOS seemed OK but my HDD is dead - it will have to go back for replacement. I will provide feedback in a few days.
