Question Microsoft ID Error 7023 on Mesh PC

I have had problems submitting my query to MESH web help desk does any one have a solution to the above error?

Service Control Manager The IPSEC Services service terminated with the following error: The authentication service is unknown.

On running the sc query, the report gave me to much information to display here, anything I should be looking for in this report?

Have not got clue how to deal with the report, had a look at google but it is to technical.

    One page here http://www.howtonetworking.com/VPN/rebuildipsec.htm
here suggested Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK. In Registry Editor, locate and then click the following subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\IPsec\Policy\Local. On the Edit menu, click Delete. Click Yes to confirm that you want to delete the subkey Quit Registry Editor Click Start, click Run, type regsvr32 polstore.dll, and then click OK

But I'm not so sure about the above?

ON A SEPERATE NOTE IS MESH RESPONSIBLE FOR OEM SOFTWARE? IE XP SOFTWARE RELATED ISSUES ETC?

Any help would be great. Thanks

PS I have had my problems with MESH computer in the past, but I would like to thank them for assisting me resolve these in our aim of achieving excellenence in home computing. Which we all wish and strive for.

Unless I've very much mistaken , you probably dont need to be running IPSEC services unless you have a VPN client installed ?

Marc , as I said earler , I suspect you dont actually need to make use of the IPSEC service.

set it to manual and stop it. Does anything stop working ?

If the answer to the above question is no , then you dont need the service

    How do I this?
I completed the Help and Support advice

Using IP Security Policy ManagementYou might need to have a computer administrator account to perform some tasks.

Internet Protocol Security (IPSec) is a key line of defense against internal, private network, and external security attacks. IPSec uses cryptographic security services to provide data integrity, data authentication, data confidentiality, and replay protection for TCP/IP traffic. IPSec behavior is controlled using an IPSec policy that you configure and assign using the IP Security Policy Management snap-in.

To install an IP Security Policy Management snap-in
Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type mmc, and then click OK.
On the File menu, click Add/Remove Snap-in.
Click Add, and then double-click IP Security Policy Management.
Follow the instructions on your screen.

    However no snapins were available?

Do I need log as in safe mode as the adminastrator?

Or is it to do with network connections?

    You really dont need it.

I'm not just saying this for my own gratification. Unless you know what IPSEC is and are planning on running your internal network ( assuming you have more than 1 machine ) using IPSEC encyrption over TCP/IP which for a home user is a little like attempting to fit wheels to a tomato ( time consuming yet utterly pointless )

go to start and run and type in "services.msc"( without the quotes ) , then click OK.

find the IPSEC service and double click on it. Set the start up type to manual. If it is running , click stop and wait for a few moments while the service stops.
Note and see if it has affexcted normal operation of your machine ( I'm not talking about random id's in the event log here I'm talking about do the applications installed on your machine actually work ) If it hasn't affected the operation of your machine then you have nothing to worry about.

nb. I don't work for MESH

    Now done as suggested.

Why don't I just disable this rather than setting it to manual?

Await to see if this stops this error which has happend 19 times today.

    Many Thanks for your assistance.
