    Good idea, however, charging a fiver for the software is not really gonna get you many users. WOuld be great if i had a proper IP phone, but as it is, skype doesnt cost me anything.

    Maybe thats not the market youre after though. Maybe add a fiver/tenner credit when you buy a phone?

    Also the faq is incredibly sparse, and is really a set up guide. Reading the site i have no idea 'where' the number is located (area code).
    You also might want to put some headline figures onto the tariff page, Uk land +mobile, USA, australia, pakistan, india would be my bets.

    Right now i use
    http://www.sipgate.co.uk/user/tarife.php for inbound
    and
    http://www.voipcheap.co.uk/en/rates.html for outbound (free to any landline in the UK).

    i can't see on your site anything that would make me want to pay £5!

    You can USE any SIP based software for this service. We are not forcing anyone to use this software, but it's there as a suggested item as we've tested it, it works and we can advise customers how to set it up and configure it.

    A quick read of the FAQ should enable any technological Savvy user to do the following ;

    1) Search for "FREE SIP Software" in a search engine such as google.
    2) Download the software and install
    3) Configure it for the scantalk service.

    I've been using this for a few weeks now and I've tested 12 different types of software and they've all worked fine

    Anything that doesn't give you a real landline phone number and I mean real (01/02) not 0845/0870 is not a realistic proposition to the general public. Personally I'm going to stick to sipgate (free inbound 0207 number) and sipdiscount for the moment.
