Need some network help here too

Hi guys,

I'm in a bit of a pickle, currently have a Netgear DG834 which is networking 2-3 computers at any given time. We were getting our internet from BT. Now the problems is that we've just switched to Telewest so they've supplied us with a cable modem (motorola surfboard 5100)

I was hoping it was possible to connect the Motorola to the DG834 using it's spare Lan port and then set up the DG834 to use that Lan port as the incoming internet connection rather than it's built in adsl modem.

Firstly, Is this going to be possible? and secondly How would i go about setting the router up to do so?

No it isnt, or at least not with any of the dsl routers ive seen, youre gonna to sort yourself out with a proper cable router.

unless you can turn the modem part off and plug into the uplink, then its not going to be possible unfortunately. I had the same problem with a dlink adsl router, and had to buy a normal one when i moved over to blueyonder.
