    Logitech MX518 FTW!

    I believe it does make a difference - the extra buttons are very handy and the shape is so comfortable I can play for hours and not pay for it in the morning.

    While I'm here, I may as well recommend the SteelPad QcK Pro too.

    MX518 > G5...

    - Extra buttons
    - 2000dpi is just too much (as is 1600dpi if I'm honest but you certainly don't need more)
    - Weight isn't really an issue with the MX518 so there's no need for it to be adjustable

    Personally, I'm happy with my wireless MS setup... I don't see the need for expensive-high-intensity-ultra-shiny-crazay mouse... But then again, I'm not quite as addicted to some FPS's as others!

    mx1000 ftw.. its got the laser, the wireless and and a much nicer button arrangement than the "gaming" mice.. only 800dpi but laser tracking and more than sensitive enough
    AMD3000+ ATIX800XL + GBNF44x mobo.. all at stock because they're good enough atm + CA A1 amp-->Mission 73S Loigtech MX1000 + 1GB ram + 1/3 TB HD array
    Wintendo XP + Linux (when it works) .. just incase you were wondering

    The G5 is awesome, as much as knock it for its 2000dpi the accuracy gained form the laser is well worth. The weight system is brilliant, not only can you set how much it weighs you can choose where that weight is. I've had mine since soon afetr they came out and quite simply can't face useing anything else. Its incredibly responsive and if your gonna be playing games then it really will give you an edge.

    I agree. 2000dpi is also rather CPU intensive and can drastically decrease your game performance. 2000dpi is useful for apps like photo editing, but not gaming. Look for a mouse that can handle high-gee accelarations instead.

    Do NOT go for the Raser Copperhead for high-twitch games.... been there... done that! It has high-gee sensing capabilities, but it interprets it incorrectly when you quickly move the mouse a long distance (such as performing a 180-degree turn in a game with game sensitivity turned down for more control) by forcing you to CONTINUE your turn past the point where you stopped turning. This happens in all games and is not a driver or software issue.

    I went back to the trusty Raser Diamondback and have never looked back! The Copperhead has since been collecting dust.

    In addition, never go wireless for gaming. NEVER!

    Definately avoid wireless, but seriously you will be amazed how quickly you can adapt to higher dpi, I went from a very cheap optical to the G5 and I thought 800dpi felt fast, you just slowly ramp it up, the dpi is very easy to change on the fly and the ,little display thingy shows what your at. very quickly you realize how awesome this mouse is.

    On Copperheads, I've had several friends ditch them for G5's over reliability and overshoot.

    MX518 is a very good mouse. Trying to decide between that and the G5 myself. Not too sure about wireless though.
