Apple is adding a 24in model to its iMac range of one-piece computers, all of which now centre on Intel Core 2 Duo processors, rather than Core Duo, a move said to boost performance by up to 50 per cent compared to the models launched back in January.

The new range-leader carries a 1,920x1,200 24in widescreen display, is fitted with a 2.16GHz CPU and has a VAT-inclusive suggest price of £1,349. The three other models are priced at £999 (20in, 2.16GHz); £799 (17in, 2.0GHz); and £679 (17in, 1.83GHz).
