    Wont boot - C1 code

Hi, ive just installed everything correct but it wont boot to anything and the code given is C1. From reading up I understand that not all memory is compatible with the board on certain bios versions and that the voltage is set too low for some memory.

I think thats the case with mine (the voltage being too low) but I've got no way of getting to the bios to change the voltage because I havent got access to any other DDR2 modules.... Help.
Memory in question - 2Gb OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 Special Ops Edition Voltage = 2.0 Volts
    Mobo - Abit AB9 Pro
    CPU - Intel c2d E6400

Try a single stick. See if it'll boot so that you can change the BIOS settings, if that is indeed the problem.

Nope. Tried that, tried all different slots too. I rang up the local pc shop and they havent got any ddr2 modules they use for testing. Might have to ring and ask how much the cheapest is.

    edit: scrap that-"we've only got 1gigs I'm affraid" £80

    *Bump*
So im guessing theres no way of fixing this without some low voltage ddr2 modules? If thats the case, is it worth me buying a cheap 512 or possibly 256? (for future use if it happens again - clear cmos?) Or if I borrow some just to get me in will a future bios fix it?

    Cheers.

Have you got everything except the motherboard unplugged from the PSU? Always worth a try.

It's not actually low voltage, it's the jedec spec. 1.8V.
It's the faster stuff that requires more than the spec. to run.

Oh I see, so would this happen on most boards? I think I should be able to borrow some from work on monday.

I'm using Corsair 6400 stuff that is rated at 2.1V and it'll run fine (through hours of stress testing) on 1.8V with relaxed (533MHz) timing. Someone with OCZ memory would be a much better comparison but I'd be really surprised if it wasn't possible on all makes of memory stick.

I've got it all working now! And it wasn't just the memory that gave me trouble, for some reason, it doesn't like PATA drives at all! I couldn't install windows on a freshly formated drive. And using a PATA dvd drive with a PATA HDD on the only avavailable IDE port just doesnt work so I bought a SATA dvdrw and had to install windows on my SATA HDD which I didnt really want to do but there we are, its all working now so its o.k. Gonna update the bios now.

I have been getting the same problem with my Corsiar 6400.
It only happens when the pc is cold
But if i switch it on and off a couple of times it starts like normal?

The 1950 is supposed to use less power on account of the ddr4 memory as apposed to the ddr3 on most other cards?
But like I say it will only stall at C1 when it is stone cold, it also flicks from C1 to F2 or F3 for a few seconds then stays on C1.

it sounds like something is needing to warm up (takes less power to start things from a higher temp, bit like a car) but whether that's the PSU, mobo, Ram ....

Yes perhaps it needs a bit of easystart

I will keep my eye on it and see if it persists.
I upgraded the bios to 1.2 on thursday it all went fine and was running nicely but then the next day i swiched it on and it had lost all its bios settings I had to reset the cmos to get it to play ball but it has been fine since
