    7600 Palit AGP DVI screenblackout

    Hello,

I just bought a 7600 AGP GS 256Mb Palit from scan.co.uk only reason i have gone for this is becuase i still got AGP MB and don't want a full upgrade yet. however when i connect this to a DVI connection and want to watch a Movie or play a Game or any other 3D, the screen blackouts like 10 times in less than 1 sec it goes and comes . i have installed XP over again since my installation was over 4 years old lots of problems thought it might be becuase of that but still have the same problem. i have downloaded the latest Nvidia drivers from Palit site and Nvidia no change.

when i connect analog VGA connection to my monitor it works fine.
i don't think there is a problem with the DVI connection on my monitor becuase my old card was a 5600 nvidia and it worked fine.

    i have done a 3DMark using 3DMARK06 my score is : 2043
    SM2.0 Score: 880
    HDR/SM3.0 Score:787
    CPU Score: 737

Any clue why its so slow? is it normal ? and why does the DVI not work , problem with the CARD ? if so i will return to scan.co.uk but not sure what do to now ,

    Thanks ,

The score is normal for that card I guess. Does this blackout still happens when you change screen resolution?

Oh I see it's only in 3D mode. Can you run directx tests in dxdiag?

I have done some dxdiag tests and it's the same on test2 and test3 the moving objects it does the same thing , it goes black then it appears again then black again and so on basiclly it flickers very quickly and this is only on 3D mode.

Have you played around with display mode timing settings in nvidia control panel? I think the monitor is trying to initialize it'sself and failing for some reason.

No problem but if that doesn't fix then I think you should contact Scan by email or using their forum, it maybe a bad card which needs replacing.

Ok, I've downloaded your monitor manual from Samsung website now, so have you installed this MagicTune/Natural Color software with which you can adjust various settings? Without the actual monitor it's hard to guess how these functions work but you'll probably have to calibrate your monitor first. Did your monitor came with quick install guide or something like that? You have installed driver for your monitor, right?

i installed the magictune and went through all the setup and also installed the samsung digital drivers don't see anything differant to be honest but maybe im not meant to. magictune allows you to set everything via software instead of hard buttons which is pretty good. my monitor did come with a CD / Drivers etc. i have sent Scan a message on Hexus Forums, i tried eveything today even installed a new fresh XP and tried everything else i can't seem to find the problem. i get the feeling there is something wrong with the card. im thinking of changing the brand if scan allow me to. what would you recommend me to get ? am looking for gaming , currently machine is CPU : P4 3.4 EE 1MB C , RAM: 2GB DDR RAM ,MB: aSUS P4P800D .

thanks so much for your help notsobig

Make sure you have your refresh rate set to 60Hz if your using a TFT. Some TFT's do not like a refresh rate above that.

Sorry that I'm of not much help As for the graphic card I'm no expert especially when it comes to agp but for the same price range, I would probably go for Leadtek one if I were you. They usually make very solid card and I don't hear much negative comments about thier products. Anyway, I hope you'll recieve 100% working card next time. Good luck.
