    I've specced up the following:

    - Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 ~ £113.96
    - MSI P965NEO-F i965 ~ £65.74
    - 1GB Corsair VS PC5300 ~ £70.49
    - 160GB HGST (IBM/Hitachi) ~ £38.72
    - 256MB Palit 7600GT Sonic ~ £83.19
    - Antec NSK4000 ~ £30.55
    - 380W Seasonic S12-380 ~ £39.95
    - NEC ND-5170A-0B ~ £19.26

    Total: £461.86

    Two main questions:

    - Has anyone got suggestions bearing in mind I cannot go over £460?

    - Have I got any chance what-so-ever of overclocking the CPU with that motherboard... even a little bit?

    Scan have the E6300 on Today Only for £110 so that gets you under £460

    How about the Akasa Zen Case Scan have on today only as well? - its just less than £30, altho Antec make lovely cases

    To be honest I think that is a great spec for the price, you can't go too far wrong with that.

    Could be worth just spending another £5/10 to get a 250Gb seagate or samsung drive as they are known to be nice quiet drives http://www.scan.co.uk/search/search....+250&Submit=Go

    found this thread, it mentions the motherboard...

    from a quick search it seems to be almost equal to its older brother the platinum
    review of the P965NEO
    (seems pretty decent for one of the cheapest ones that support C2D)

    I'd love to use the Today Only deals but I'll be stopping by Scan HQ on the 2nd to pick it all up... <3 Bolton.

    And apparently the board can do 333FSB so that's E6400 speeds which is what I wanted. Not sure how this works with the RAM though...

    you should be able to run a divider with the ram, so the ram can run at lower speeds and at tighter settings.

    as for picking it up, i thought you could purchase it online using the today only prices, and specify to pick it up? If not you should be able to place the order, give them a ring and ask to pick it up at the today only prices I am sure they would be happy to let you do that?

    Why not order the stuff online and use Q-collect?

    That way you get the best of both worlds, I would second the Akasa Zen (also on today only for a tad under £25) which should give you enough to get the bigger HDD

    Before mentioning it I did do some reviews, and from what I have read it seems like a perfectly decent case, the reviews I read seemed quite positive.

    No one seems to give any priority to cases with and without an air filter, when I open my cheap case the inside in covered in ****e.
    Well the antec p180 is on my shortlist to buy, and I'm looking forward to a clean inside...ermm well if air filters work properly like they are suppose to do.

    Yes it does, but you can get decent cases for £30ish. I've built a system in an Antec 3000B and the Zen and IMO the Antec is a better case all round.

    I also read a review or two before I bought the Zen. The side panels weren't as thick as I expected and at least one of the fans made a buzzing noise. I had to undervolt them with a Fanmate.

    Cheapest filter is - stick a Bounce fabric Freshner sheet where you think a filter should be. I'm using some instead of the standard Akasa Eclipse filter.

    You're case will smell nice for a short while
