your not comparing like for like tho are you ?, an 8800gtx by design is going to generate more heat due to the power requirements, I wouldn't give it a 2nd thought if it doesn't go over 100 degrees under full load personally

my 8800gtx idles at around 70-75 in my shuttle

The maximum safe should be listed in the control panel. Under the temp page as core slowdown threshold. On my 7950GT it's 130c. I've seen quite a few cards go that high without problems.

Seeing as your card is over clocked, I think that temps fine under load. you can probably knock a bit off the temp with redoing your cooling though.

I have two 8800gtx and the other one is at stock speed and that on load is 77c and this one is over clocked and the temps are 20c different .

Also the airflow inside is great , its a A380 XCLIO

    That's hot.

Personally, I get worried if any component runs much above 60C. But I've recently had to revise my scare level as my 1950XT hits 75 under load.

Sorry to be pedantic, but a big 250mm fan does not necessarily equal better airflow.

About 6 months ago I plunked my old system from an Antec 3000 into an X-Clio 3060 (big fan on side) for my brother as I was upgrading.

I was very disappointed to see CPU & GPU temperatures increase as a result. In that case, I think the big fan = more turbulant airflow & less effective dissipation of heat.

the inside temp is 41c and the cpu is 51c , before this gpu was inside it was 33c.

Its definately the card thats increasing the temps inside too.

96°C for an 8800 is no problem whatsoever.

120°C and start getting the sand bucket out

I agree. Thats does sound incredibly hot.
Ive never had a GPU get to those kind of temps before.
