    Barton Codes...what's this one?

My new one.....before I whack a heatsink on it and fry the monster....

    what is it? Anyone know?

    AQZFA 0342SPMW

Is that bottom row 03 for year and 42 for week number?

    IT'S LOCKED

Looks like AMD have pulled the plug (least tim someone nails a solution)

For the record......I set BIOS to DEFAULT mulitplier....it came up (greyed out) at 11x166 1.84 gig.....showed in Windows same

Back into BIOS....dropped the multi.....to 10x...failed to even boot. Powered down, waited 10 seconds, rebooted and back to 11x100 (I love the way ASUS mobos do that..no fiddling with CMOS reset..)

    Then went back to 11x16.....fine

    then went to 11.5 x 166 and 12x166 and 12.5 x166....

EACH BOOTED ....but as a 2500+

and each SHOWS in Windows as same

LOCKED AS A SAFE DOOR WITHOUT A KEY

    Life goes on

d'oh. lets hope someone fines a way to unlock it or i will have to get some better RAM than pc2700

I like the way my tbred xp1700 defaults to 16x100 after a CMOS reset

EDIT: read the ASUS thing differently. my NF7-S (v2.0) doesnt recognise my keyboard until the BIOS bit. have to turn of the mains and then back on. but default speed of 1600mhz is cool shame it says 'the CPU is unworkable, press F1 to continue or DEL to enter the BIOS.'

    Will

I just fitted a 2500+ but didn't note the full code. Stepping code was AQXEA, I'm finishing build at the weekend. Let you know the results. CPU was from Overclockers.

I have asked David to contact AMD about it. They are a good company, I am sure we'll have a reply soon enough.
