Two pints of bitter and some net access please

I have a Toshiba E730 bluetooth pda and decided that I fancied some net access via wifi, have been using gprs previously but its costs a fortune on pay as you go. Anyway ordered an ebuyer CF wifi card (rebadged senao, got drivers from them) for £25ish, so where to try it ?? Searched for local hotspots and up pops Wetherspoons pub, my usual thursday night drinking establishment So off we go. Ordered a couple of pints so I didnt have to move for a few minutes did a scan and up pops The Cloud wifi network, connected and it gives the option to buy credit, use an account or use a carrd bought from the site. Basically you get an hours net access for £4.50 and you have 30 days to use the credit. And it worked brilliantly. Did my usual net things, email etc, ebay took about 10 minutes so plenty of time left to play with.

Anyway link to the cloud (not great for info but works well)

Seems like a good one if you want some hexus and fancy a pint and some pork scratchings.

There are lots of hotspot search engines about, I used this one
    http://www.thecloud.net/mycloud/

Apparently some of the pub games machines uses adsl for something, so they just add a wireless access point to that. The pay as you go access is great, you can buy the credit when you look on to the access point.

Yeah that the cloud link doesnt seem to cover Ireland but www.totalhotspots.com does to certain extent although it doesnt cover all the ones here in Cork by any means.

Yeah Wi Fi is taking off here in Cork as well. Lots of new hotspots in the last few months . (Not that I have anything to access them with ).

The Uni here is launching a free WiFi system (you have to register you MAC/IP) but it might have quite good range considering that the campus is pretty spread out around the City.

Am now thinking of getting a card for the laptop, been using it with the PDA so far, and love it. Considering the PDA was £150 of ebay, storage card was £30 and the WIFI was £25 its a really useful bit of kit. Its main purpose is satnav but all these extra uses are making it a worthwhile bit of kit. Also a great reason to sit in a pub
