    Lost iPhone 4 anyone?

So this is more of discussion regarding lost iphones?

A friend of mine recently (2 days ago) found a iPhone4 on the bus, I KNOW RIGHT? It was a 32gb >.<
Sucks for the person who lost it. Now he's actually going to keep it HAH. But he's hesitant on turning on the phone, because what if the user has an app that allows it to track the where about of the iphone 4. Is there a way to wipe the iphone 4 and re-activate it without it being tracked?

FFS, phone the number called mum and tell them you have the phone and give it back. You will destroy some ones Christmas by keeping it and make some ones Christmas by giving it back.

Although I once found a phone, it started to ring so I picked it up and there was a guy on the other end telling me he would kill me if he didn't get the phone back. I put the phone down and sent a text to "mum" contact saying "Hi its your son, I thought I would tell you before you found out from other people..... I am gay"

If he had been calm I would have simply met him and handed his phone over to him.

    Re: Lost iPhone 4 anyone?

Tell your friend to actually do the decent thing, and either try and track down the owner of the phone, by way of contacts in the phone book, or handing it in to the local Police station/into the Bus company involved?

Rather than the selfish something for nothing attitude that seems to be being displayed.

I lost a phone (which I spent about 500 quid on) a while back, and I hadn't of had it long...but I knew I wouldn't get it back - not many people out there who would do the decent thing and hand it in.

    Re: Lost iPhone 4 anyone?

A mixture of emotions, mainly gutted, sad and angry at myself for losing it!

I lost it out while on a bike ride. I even back tracked to the last point I used it, to try and find it (I was quite tired, had already rode about 24 miles at that point). I was thinking can I even be bothered, when it going to be a futile attempt.

I'm still not over it :'(

    1. Return it

    2. Yes there is and it's free for owners now

    3. No there isn't as it's based on the IMEI which is unique to each phone, which can be tracked by the telco company

Give your 'mate' a slap, tell him to stop being a knob jockey and return it to the owner. IIRC by not making any genuine attempt to return it or even hand it in at a police station it's theft.

    Re: Lost iPhone 4 anyone?

give it back to the owner. A couple of months back my polish neighbour woke me up in the middle of the night rolling down his stairs drunk so i went and helped him into his house, The next morning at 8am was taking my wifes bike out for her and noticed a nice sony ericsson xperia x10i sitting on the bottom step.

The guy was absolutely rat ar*** the night before it never even crossed my mind to keep it i knocked on his door and was greeted by his very angry wife who was not pleased with him at all gave her the phone and that was that.

If your mate has the oppurtunity to find the owner he should take it. If he hands it into the police and noone claims it he would get it after a period of time if the owner doesnt come and claim it. And you never know if your friend is decent enough to find the owner they may even give him a reward.

If you can get reception call someone on their phone give it back to them its not nice think how happy you would be if you lost yours and someone handed it in tell your friend to do the right thing.

Is that your general advice or just because it's an iPhone 4 ?

Tell him to stop being an utter **** and return it...

Me and my mates found a htc desire in a taxi in hull, so we rang the most recently called contact (we figured it was likely they would be with them...) Low and behold we gave him the address we were at and he came to get it with a big smile.

    Re: Lost iPhone 4 anyone?

surely they have pin setup on the phone anyway, so you wouldnt be able to use it if you wanted to?
not even to phone "home" contact and let them know where thier phone is.

Trying to use it would be a futile attempt in any case as far as im aware, because as soon as the IMEI is reported to the phone operater, they disable the phone... and with it being an iphone, theres a very good chance its saved linked to thier itunes account.

I'd just give it back and avoid any hastle tbh.

This. You can only keep found goods if you have made all reasonable attempts to return them to their rightful owner. The fact that you even bothered asking if the phone can be wiped and reactivated means that you (and presumably your mate) know that keeping it is the wrong thing to do. So sort yourselves out.
