November Social - Telford

Because I promised! (and it fits nicely in the middle of Manchester and Milton Keynes!)

November 3rd in Telford

It's really easy to get to as it has the M54 running through the middle (off the M6... 1 junction up from the M5) and trains run from Shrewsbury and Birmingham.

Telfordites... Need somewhere to meet for a drink and lunch then suggestions of things to do for the afternoon.

G8ina had expressed a wish to come to the meets but due to mobility problems can't so we're going there instead.

It's only an hour from me, close to birmingham and straight up the M5 for those lovely south westerners.

Mart... sounds good, we all are really, we try to keep the cost of meets to a minimum as a lot of us are on the bread line!

Right - Wrekin Arms, no good.

Cuckoo Oak is a good bet as it's a big place with good food.

Ski slope is still at the MERC although its not been called that (except by those with long memories) for 20 years

Madeley is only a short journey from Telford Central station.

Madeley has 6 pubs in the lower High St area and another 3 in the old part.

Ironbridge Gorge Museums are also worth a look if you come for the day, I'd be happy to be "twopenny tour" guide if anyone needs it.

Fortunately I'm not quite old enough to remember Madeley Modern (Although the former headmistress there lives on in many peoples memories....! )

How short is this journey from Telford to Madeley?

How do peoples coming by train get there?

Ironbridge is good for a wander round... i'll put that down as a provisional plan dependent on weather!

Madeley's up Iron Bridge road from the Bridge, past the Ab-Dab, past the big roundabout and downwards

Telford Central is a No 44 bus ride to Madeley (via Town Centre), costs about £1-40).

Taxi is about £6-50.

Distance about 6m.

I could collect some by car.......
