FYI: AGAIN one of your earlier threads,

    http://forums.hexus.net/showthread.p...t=linux+ubuntu
    It is Inevitable.....

nope NOT working and as i said ikonia theres something missing from his repository so makes that post irrelavant... so anyway directhex... what did your post mean just then?
I've somehow manage to get one drive to work but the 2 on my pci sata card sda1 sdb1 arent working i changed something by mistake for the ummm i cant remember it was some numbers after the drive name in a config.... anyway everytime i try to open in computer i get...
The folder contents could not be displayed.
You do not have the permissions necessary to view the contents of "disks-conf-sdb1".
oh and the ntfs-3g is installed but has only sorted one of my drives...

it means "if you want to stand the slightest chance of getting an answer to your specific query, than diagnostic information is required - specifically, the output from the two listed commands

5 PMs within a 30 minute period are not the way to get help.

posting the same barely comprehensible messages with zero diagnostic information is not the way to get help.

if you don't want to be treated in a "have you tried turning it on?" manner then you need to at least show the vaguest of abilities to follow instructions, without paragraphs of flowery ****e either side

1.) you didn't mention that there was something missing from the repo's in directhex's last instruction set in either this thread or the older threads.

2.)he's asking for the output of the two commands he's listed.
if you want help, start taking notes so you can post accuarate information rather than "I changes something ummmm can't remember" - as its very hard to work out what you've done/could have done.

If one drive is working but the others arn't it shows the process is working, so the most likley cause is the permissions on the other drives or how they are mounted.

post the output of directhex's request.
    It is Inevitable.....

that's what i got... yeah i tried various sites tutorials and couldn't find one that worked.
however i didn't "uninstall" each method when it failed-as i was unaware how to
is there any way i can wipe out all the failed attemps and settings that would have caused them and try again.
at the moment when i click on the 2 sata's in computer i get...

    $logfile indicates unclean shutdown (0, 0)

failed to mount '/dev/sdb1': operation not supported

mount is denied because ntfs logfile is unclean. choose one action:

boot windows and shutdown it cleanly, or if you have a removable

device then click the 'safely remove hardware' icon in the windows

taskbar notification area before disconnecting it.

    or

run 'ntfsfix' on linux unless you have vista, then mount ntfs with

the 'force' option read-write, or with the 'ro' option read-only.

    or

mount the ntfs volume with the 'ro' option in read-only mode.

and for the other nothing happens when opening it.no error no opening of the drive just stays in computer.right-clicking shows "unmount" option but it can't be mounted.
i'm stumped as to what to do...

    another thing of interest maybe?

    my fstab?

    root@mypc:~# cat /etc/fstab
    # /etc/fstab: static file system information.
    #
    # -- This file has been automaticly generated by ntfs-config --
    #
    # <file system> <mount point> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>

    /dev/sda1 /media/320RE_SATA ntfs-3g defaults,user,user_allow_other,umask=002,gid=6 0 0
    /dev/sdb1 /media/SATASTORAGE ntfs-3g defaults,user,user_allow_other,umask=002,gid=6 0 0

    sorry for all the trouble

and now this for either sda1 or sdb1 and they are the drives:

    root@mypc:~# sudo umount /dev/sda1
    umount: /dev/sda1: not mounted
    root@mypc:~# sudo mount -a
    NTFS signature is missing.
Failed to startup volume: Invalid argument
Failed to mount '/dev/hda2': Invalid argument
The device '/dev/hda2' doesn't have a valid NTFS.
Maybe you selected the wrong device? Or the whole disk instead of a
partition (e.g. /dev/hda, not /dev/hda1)? Or the other way around?
    Volume is scheduled for check.
Please boot into Windows TWICE, or use the 'force' mount option.
    $LogFile indicates unclean shutdown (0, 0)
Failed to mount '/dev/sdb1': Operation not supported
Mount is denied because NTFS logfile is unclean. Choose one action:

    EDIT:

    oh and this

    root@mypc:~# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
    varrun 506M 80K 506M 1% /var/run
    varlock 506M 4.0K 506M 1% /var/lock

did you really type that ???

Stick with windows it seems to be what you know- its clear you really don't get whats going on, you can't understand documents or simple instructions.

no that is NO help to me and that was given as output to me.
I did know what i was doing awhile back ran everything fine.
just have this problem from trying with multiple install methods as the failed file on directhex's repository wasn't there etc and then tried various other methods over the top.
don't judge me-HELP me otherwise whats the point.saying i'm stupid or whatever bares no meaning to someone obviously asking for help on a problem.its just plain insulting.if i was so "l33t" which i'm NOT claiming to be do you think i'd be asking for help!
