    OK...lots of people have this:

It's either a codec issue, where a piece of software you've got installed for playing films has over written the windows codecs...or

you've got Folder Lock installed, to stop people tampering with your files. Turn it off and uninstall it to see.

Otherwise....you may still be struggling .

WMM doesnt like MPEGS all the time, though it seems ok on mine once I'd installed a DVD player software pack that came free with my DVD player.

Thanks for the help so far mate.
Have just noticed that I'm still using the older version WMM 2.0 when there is a 2.1.

But God Dam Microsoft make it so difficult just to upgrade this program, all i can see is that i need SP2 installed, but already have it installed.

you have not installed any 'codec packs' have you?

And if you use FFDShow - try disabling it, just for testing

err, well sadly it had been a long time since i last used WMM, so im not sure what could be conflicting? I have DivX v6.4.3 installed.

Have also tried unselecting all the filters in WMM tools options compatibility but that does not work still getting error.

Re: Windows Movie Maker will not import any video?

HEY!!! ok, i had the same problems for the longest time and i even reinstalled windows, and reinstalled wmm like 5 times tryign to figure this out, buuuuut, it may be a little weird, but i was playing around with(WMM) and i finnally made it work, ....
    1. start up wmm
    2. add title at the beginning of the movie
    3. now upload your vids

it worked surprisingly, must be a glitch in wmm atm.
i had to make an account on here just to let you know about it, there ya be ^
