problem with windows media player no sound sometimes

I don't know why but my windows media player has decided not to have sound sometimes when playing videos.

Like with my holiday movies that i recorded using a Sony Cybershot camera all of a sudden has no sound unless i use a different player.

Some live streaming videos on websites that require WMP also has no sound especially when the codec for the sound being streamed with the video is in mono, stereo plays fine...

I dont know what codec the movies from my cybershot W50 camera plays though...

I have tried reintalling WMP11, then downgraded to WMP10 but still haven't been able to solve this problem with WMP...
    any help?
    thanks

I was searching for the same thing and found your question. This is what I found:

Make this registry change and I'm pretty sure it will fix your problem. If it doesn't work, you can always change it back. It'll work.

Go to the following registry folder:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\NodeCLSIDs\{95037DA1-6ED9-4B27-8CFF-9AD3DFB0B2F2}]

double click on 'Auto Insert" on the right side of the box.

Change the Value from "1" to "0" and click OK.

    You should be set.
