    How to remove windows messenger?

I'm getting fed up of windows messenger and I've got MSN 6, but windows messenger still pops open every now and again 'cause random programs tell it to. It may be easier to set up all these programs (outlook etc) not to do this, but is there a way just to remove windows messenger and have done with it? I want to do it cleanly though, not just delete msmsgs.exe and hope no error messages pop up all the time!

    Anyone have any hints?
