    Uninstalling F-Secure Anti-Virus

    Hey,

I currently have F-Secure Anti Virus installed on my computer and am trying to uninstall it (in safe mode...I guess I'm right in doing this, my logic is that if I uninstall my anti-virus in normal mode, I'm unprotected, but I'm OK in safe mode, right?). I followed the usual steps of going into control panel and trying to remove it from the add/remove programs list, however I am told to first uninstall the Automatic Update Agent, which is where I am having the problem. When I click remove, I get an error saying uninstallation failed - "Detailed description - Unable to read the registry uninstallation parameters. Check that all the necessary values are in the product's subkey in the Uninstall key in the registry". I never use the registry so don't know what to do, could someone please explain the process? I tried to use the uninstallation tool on their website but got an error when trying to download.

    Cheers,
    Chris

    Hello,
some programs wont uninstall correctly in safe mode.. so try in normal mode.
you wont be unprotected for long just close all programs and run the uninstallation tool. if your paranoid just unplug the network cable or if wireless right click icon and disconnect.
the lastest f-secure removal tool is here

if it doesnt work submit a support request

Lodore is correct. Most AV programs have additional uninstallers if Add/Remove Programs doesn't work.

    ESET's website lists a bunch: http://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN146

    Re: Uninstalling F-Secure Anti-Virus

I've tried 3 different antivirus programs so far, and they are all a nuisance. What's the point of having a fast computer if the antivirus brings it to a halt? I've decided to just use Google Chrome to keep my web browsing safe, and take my chances.
