Getting rid of Google Chrome's highlight popup

Just quick question, does anybody know how to disable this rather annoying feature? It appears after text is highlighted (in Chrome):

Re: Getting rid of Google Chrome's highlight popup

I've never seen that before and I run Chrome daily. Have you got any extensions or toolbars which could be adding that?
My only concern is should I hide my true identity? A costume maybe?

0iD: Plus weeing in it every now & again does it good
scaryjim: 10" is just a little large to hold comfortably in one hand, which makes it a lot harder to tap, swipe and generally interact with.

Re: Getting rid of Google Chrome's highlight popup

Yeah, that isn't part of chrome, do you run the google toolbar etc Looking at it though it seems to have quite a few differing icons from other companies so I would hazard a guess thats an extension. Might be worth checking the extensions tab and seeing what you have.

Same as Paul, I run chrome daily on all machines I use and never come across that before.

Same, never come across it, so I'd be looking at other software running that's making that happen..

Check in the extensions or something

That is definitely a third party extension doing that.

Re: Getting rid of Google Chrome's highlight popup

looks a lot like a nicer implementation of IE8's "accelerators". I assume from your description that it pops up as soon as you highlight text (rather than on a mouseover / middle click or somesuch)? Looks like a nice idea, but I couldn't do with it popping up every time I highlighted text...

Re: Getting rid of Google Chrome's highlight popup

Yes, when you highlight text on the page. This is annoying not only because I highlight a lot - but it always takes a second to load/freezes everything a second.

I don't browse like that, but if I did I prefer using the right click menu.

The main reason I highlight text in web pages is to search / map / wiki it in some way, so it'd be useful for me - but not if it comes up as soon as you highlight, *and* slows your browsing down, that'd just be a pain. Don't think I'll bother with that for now
