Home Premium or Professional for Windows 7?

Is there any reason I should pay a bit more for Professional?

I don't even understand what most of the features do. I'm not going to use more than 16 GB of RAM anytime soon. Is there any point?

Also, you see how some versions can only be installed to one PC, but it is cheaper? What do they exactly mean by one PC? Does that go by Motherboard essentially or the HDD that you install it too?

Yes there are reasons, but it sounds like you don't have any requirement for it so stick with home premium.

Yes, OEM versions are cheaper, and are designed to be sold with hardware, ie they are for system builders so that they can include a copy of Windows with the computer they are selling. It goes on the hardware combination you install it to - you are allowed a certain number of changes to the hardware, beyond which it will need reactivating. If you want to keep the same copy of Windows when you change computers then buy the retail version of Windows.

If you want to connect to a domain, RDP into your PC or use "XP mode" get pro if not get home.

The only thing I use with Pro that isn't in HP is remote desktop.

You can use Teamviewer or Logmein or VNC to get around this anyway
