Question What resolution & colour depth is your OS desktop?

Whatever OS you use, what is the resolution & colour depth of your desktop?
(If you use more than one PC, select the stats of your main/preferred rig.)

I have seen people try to use a 1280x1024 desktop on a 15" monitor, and 800x600 on a 21" monitor.

Are you one of the people that has to get the most on the screen they can, or prefer to have nice, big, readable (if somewhat blocky) text?

Hehe, actually I did have that, plus another resolution initially - but we mere mortals are limited to 10 options in a poll

First off I have to say that my main monitor isn't mine - it's belongs to my workplace - but I run 1920 x 1200 x 32 on a nice 23" widescreen Sony TFT...

1600x1200 on both my Sony G400 19" CRT and the gorgeous ultrasharp Dell 16" laptop TFT screen. I can't work in lower resolutions (although 1400x1050 is just about bearable) and I detested the lab machines we had at uni with 1024x768 lcd screens, esp cos they chucked a bunch of Iiyama CRTs that were good for 16x12

Nope... Just straight dev work. If it was my cash (or I'd have had more choice in the matter) I'd have bought 2 x 19" TFTs and saved about £1,000 on the price of this Sony thing (though it is very nice)... And I would have had more real estate that way too... Well actually if it was my cash I'd have stuck with my old CRT!
