Code in that link was a bit garbled - just fixed it for you.
Thank you kindly! The one time I don't double check, an error occurs. Typical!
The 11 000 votes threshold has been reached! Now how about another few thousand votes?
The guy running this campaign and that generous contributor he speaks of are pretty damn cool in my opinion! Read to the end and you'll see why.
Very interesting development...
Here's a short piece on the subject by Gaming On Linux.
Is GOG.com About To Support Linux?
Looks like I won't be doing a 500$ giveaway using GOG games in the foreseeable future. Luckily, Wildfire Games (the nonprofit organization behind 0 A.D.) is doing an Indiegogo Campaign. That's where my money will go.
Funny read right after hearing what GOG had to say on the matter.
A GOG employee dropped a very subtle hint about Linux support. More hope, more tears? Oh, well, keep voting!

Looks like they've finally listened, yay!
I expect there will be some early teething problems but it's a step in the right direction.

Not many games need a port for Linux
There are so many good candidates here for quick ports into a Dosbox/WINE wrapper. I hope Steam get to carry whatever ports GoG get done.
Ha! My apologies. Considering how some posts were weeks if not months apart, it seemed fair to just give them their own posts as the news came in. Also, editing old posts does not seem to bump the thread so it would go unnoticed, much to the dismay of my passion on the subject.
Finally indeed! I just had to forget about posting the big news here once it finally happened, eh? Still, there are only a few games out for Linux that GOG offers for sale. Only around 3 out of the approximately 20 titles for Linux that I currently want are on GOG, for instance. Steam's offering when it comes to Linux games is much larger. Even games that GOG already sells and that have Linux clients elsewhere won't have Linux clients on GOG in the near future as contracts would need to be renegotiated and that, of course, costs money. GOG has finally expanded, but is it a bit little a bit late?
