Help with Virtal MAchine in suspended state (Hyper-V)

    Hello to all.

I have a server that was running a couple of Hyper V sessions, the server lost power during a windows update and now when it reboots it goes straight to recovery console. I have a copy of each of the hyper-v's but when i try to mount them in Virtualbox or vm player it just goes round in a loop. I have even tried on another 2008 server to see if that works but it didnt.

Does anyone know how to edit the .VHD file to get it to start up as a new instance?
    I am the gadget man!

Not a Hyper-V user, but does this help?

Alternatively - what do you have by way of backups? If this is production stuff then you *must* have a proper way to recover to another server.

Do you mean the guest hyperv machines or the host machine crashed?
Was it clustered on a shared volume or on local/unclustered storage?

Are there any .avhd or other files in the same folder as the vhd? If you had snapshots you'll need to merge them in for it to boot. They may not play nice in other platforms as the drivers are different (scsi /ide for a start is often an isue - you could try vmware convertor and pull it into vmware player may be an option, but you'd be better off building another Windows server.
