Local account on Windows 8

If you setup a local account on a new windows 8 machine do you miss much other than Skydrive?

To those of you who have a local account, if you update to 8.1 does it still work?

Access to the Windows store is a big one.

And my laptop has a local 8.1 account, so it must work, more or less. Buggered if I remember how I set it up though.

Even for those who just want a desktop experience..

Don't like idea of having an email account linked to a computer.

Yeah - 100%. (well, actually, I lie. I've been on 8, and I reinstalled to get to 8.1, but I can't imagine updating would screw it).

If you do ever reinstall, on the 8 setup screen it's something obvious, like "Sign in without Microsoft Account", but on 8.1 you need to go into "Create New Account", as if you're about to make a microsoft account, and then there's a cheeky box under there that says "Make Local Account" or something like that.
